Viajiyu Footwear Design Internship

Over the course of my internship at Viajiyu, a newer luxury footwear company in Florence, Italy, I designed shoes for trailblazing women. As the company's first Footwear Design Intern, I created a unique pair of shoes for a prominent, young trailblazer in the fashion industry, Amber Venz Box, blogger and founder of likeittoknowit and RewardStyle. The shoe designs I created for Ms. Box were inspired by her lifestyle, personal quotes, and fashion style.

Additionally, I was challenged to think of ways in which to design new sandals that could use Viajiyu's existing shoe lasts. The pictures below show the shoes in which the factory was able to produce from the forms and sketches I conceptualized. These sandals were then put into production and customized per customers' individual style.

Sandal variations

Above are pictures of my Illustrator sketches of the sandals that went into production for Viajiyu. I designed them using the same foot last so the company could cut production time and costs while reusing the same last. I was able to generate four sandal variations from a pre-existing shoe last the company already was producing.

Above are the first prototypes of the sandal variations I designed for Viajiyu. After deciding upon which prototypes we liked best, we narrowed the styles down to 4 sandals that were then put into production.
